Naked yoga has become a big hit for men in Edmonton, Canada. The class instructors at Shanti Yoga Studios’ men-only classes are encouraging men to lose their clothes for a more psychologically fulfilling experience than traditional yoga. “For some it’s about naturalism and just being nude, and for other people it’s just a bucket list endeavor,” says instructor Chris McBain. McBain claims that these classes are helping individuals tackle their fears. Yoga has many benefits and is not only a great physical activity, but also a great way to relax the mind. The challenge can be intimidating but once it’s confronted, it can produce a lot of self-confidence.
Yoga is a way for people to free their minds and their bodies. Add nudity to it and the freedom goes up a notch! If traditional yoga can help people gain self-confidence, then naked yoga is sure to add more. Isis Phoenix of Naked Yoga NYC told Health News Daily that “A new reality is created in the first 15 minutes of class — a reality where people can be naked and practice yoga in the room, and it’s OK,” Phoenix said. “Nobody’s going to point and laugh.” It may sound silly to some and it will surely take some time to get used to, but once you’re comfortable with the experience, it can be very beneficial for your body, mind, and spirit.
Naked yoga classes for men are becoming more and more popular world wide and popping up all over the U.S. as well.
